Naturally painted eggs

Naturally painted eggs

Last year I experimented with painting red eggs with onion leaves and it was an unexpected success. This year I also painted yellow eggs, also without egg paint ... using a tumor. Are you going to ask me what a tumor is? Well, it is a plant, from the root of which a yellow spice is obtained, originating from the Indo-Malaysian region. The spice is also easily found in our stores, in health food stores, plafar type.

1. Put the onion peels in a pot, add enough cold water to cover the peels. Water to fill about half of the vessel.

2. Wash the eggs well with water and liquid detergent, then dry with absorbent paper towels.

3. Take one egg at a time and place a model leaf on it, with the ribbed part glued to the egg. This will print a beautiful and interesting model.

4. Place the piece of sock on top of the leaf attached to the egg and spread it carefully so as not to move the leaf.

5. Tighten the sock at the back, opposite the applied leaf. It is fixed by tying it tightly with a thread.

6. Place the decorated eggs in the pot with water, making sure that they are well covered by the onion peels and water. Add the vinegar and salt.

7. Put the pot to boil and time 7 minutes from the moment the water boils. After removing the pot from the heat, set aside and allow the eggs to cool in the colored water.

9. Remove the eggs from the water and carefully remove them from the sock. Remove the vegetable applications from the eggs and allow the wipes to dry. To make these eggs painted with onion peels shine, carefully grease them with a piece of bacon or a napkin soaked in oil.

If you want to paint eggs in a natural shade of yellow, all you have to do is prepare a mixture of 120 ml of hot water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of turmeric (or turmeric). Leave the eggs already boiled in the mixture for 30-60 minutes, or if necessary, extend the time until you get the desired shade.

Although it sounds counterintuitive, you can get a gorgeous and natural shade of blue at the same time, using red cabbage. Combine 350 ml of water with 3 tablespoons of vinegar and half a cabbage, cut into pieces. Boil the composition until the water turns very intense, add the already boiled eggs, turn off the heat and leave them for 60-80 minutes, or until you get the desired color.

How do we paint eggs with onion leaves? | Naturally painted eggs

There are two things I've been looking forward to this spring: Easter with all the preparations and the new Game of Thrones series on HBO and HBO GO! Eh… the little joys of a housewife! So, in today's article, we talk about both in turn!

Preparations for Easter involve a lot for a housewife: from impeccable cleanliness to decorations, from the transition from fasting dishes to fluffy cakes. And a step we can't leave aside: painted eggs!

Every year more and more methods appear to paint Easter eggs and, after testing all kinds of techniques and colors, I always return to the classic version, learned from grandparents: the dearest and most beautiful Easter eggs for me, they are the ones painted naturally, using onion leaves!

Naturally painted eggs with onion leaves - Tips

  • White eggs and brown eggs will take on a different color, so watch the cooking time carefully. The white ones will come out a lighter reddish brown, the brown ones will come out darker tones.
  • It is very important to wash the eggs very well and degrease them before painting. Wash them with the abrasive sponge and warm water to remove any impurities or compliance stamp from the store. Then you can degrease them using a towel soaked in a little lemon juice.
  • For the most beautiful effect, use white and red onion leaves. Where do you get onion leaves? From the store or aprozar! There are always so many in the boxes where the onion is stored.
  • For an even more spectacular effect, use fruits, flowers, blades of grass, which you fix to the egg with the help of a sock. Then color the eggs and, at the end, remove the sock and the plants.
  • In the end, for super-shiny eggs that look super good, don't forget to shine them using a piece of bacon!

Naturally painted eggs for this Easter, with ingredients from the kitchen

Egg painting can be a creative and fun time in the family, especially if you have children. To eliminate some of the chemicals in our lives, we can try some ingredients from the kitchen. This way we will have naturally painted eggs. Of course, the colors as strong as the ones from the envelope will not come out, but that's not the idea. Nobody wants perfection when it comes to eggs, right? Fun is important and the special moment, in this Great Week.

Naturally painted eggs, but with what?

There are a few ingredients that most of us have at home. And if we don't have them, they're not so expensive that we can't put them in our shopping cart:

  • coffee
  • black tea
  • carrot
  • apple peels
  • lemon or orange peel
  • red onion leaves
  • Beet
  • Red cabbage
  • Paprika.

How to prepare the solution for naturally painted eggs

Ok, it takes a little longer than the egg paint version in the envelope. But I think it's worth the time, I think.

The proportion for the shells is about 1 fist per cup. For powders (tea or coffee or paprika), about 2 tablespoons. So depending on how much water you have in the pot, measured with the cup, you put as much raw material.

Boil the water well with the respective herbs, until it becomes as dark as possible. Do not mix them all above, but you can try them in different containers. About 30 minutes should be the cooking time, after which strain the liquid from the herbs.

How to prepare eggs

The classic version & # 8211 is wiped well with a soft cloth, then with a cloth in solution with water and detergent (bio preferably), after which they are rinsed with another solution & # 8211 vinegar seems to help for the subsequent adhesion of the paint.

How to paint

Put the eggs in the solution and leave for about 20 minutes or as needed, for an intense color. Then take them out one by one, wipe them with an oil-soaked napkin.

They can be painted off the fire or on the fire. In variant 2, the egg is practically boiled in the paint, not before.

Have a large 3-5 liter pot and lots of paper towels on hand.

Okay, now all the detractors will come and say that these are not painted eggs, that they look like a terrible scoundrel and so on. Who cares? We don't take them out on the catwalk, we eat them, brothers and sisters. So only we and ours see them. So it really doesn't matter. Anyway, when I saw that paint that went all the way to the whites, it made me shiver.

Method of preparation

In the country, my grandmother God forgive her, she painted eggs in a unique and natural way. She used red onion leaves, white onion leaves and red beet slices. My mother continued the tradition, I continued it for years and I sincerely hope that my daughter will do the same.
Wash eggs well with water and detergent and rinse just as well. Wipe or let dry. Then, each egg is watered on the places where the leaf or leaves are applied according to the desired pattern. Each egg is sewn or tied in a piece of thin sock or gauze. One sock is enough for enough eggs. Eggs are boiled in a pot together with sliced red onion leaves and beets. Pour a few tablespoons of vinegar. Boil eggs preferably soft or hard. After boiling leave for a few hours or even until the next day in the pot and the water in which they boiled to catch the color. Remove, unpack easily and grease with bacon or a little oil for appearance.
In the same way, but without leaves, I also paint quail eggs. They come out very beautiful, they are healthy, and in the basket they look amazing, they are enthroned like queens.
I always make egg salad for Easter.
You will also find the egg salad recipe if you want, but it will also become a habit of the Easter menu and not only.

2. Each egg is wrapped in crepe paper of a single color or cut into strips of several colors, join and wrap each egg individually, then put in a piece of gauze and boil depending on how you want to get eggs (soft, hard.)

Omelet with vegetables and ham

The recipe is for two portions. The potato is cleaned and boiled in water with a pinch of salt for about 15 minutes.

Ornamental appetizer 2

Preparation: Slice the salmon (which you want) cut the tomatoes into a flower shape and cut the cheese

Work utensils Eggs painted with a napkin

  • hard boiled eggs, still hot
  • 1 egg white
  • quality napkins, in three starts
  • a brush

Preparing the eggs for the egg-painted napkin technique

  1. The eggs I used were white, they are the best because the color and pattern will not be altered by the color of the egg. Although they will be completely covered, the napkin being very transparent cannot completely cover the color of the darker eggs.
  2. Put the eggs in a bowl of lukewarm water, add a little dishwashing detergent and wash the eggshells with gentle movements.
  3. Remove the eggs from the bowl in a strainer and rinse well under a stream of clean water.
  4. Put the eggs in a pot of water to which add 1 teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of vinegar and bring to a boil. The fire may be strong at first, until the water heats up, but reduce the heat as soon as it first boils for a quiet boil, thus avoiding breaking the eggs.
  5. For hard-boiled eggs, we will time 8 minutes from the start of cooking.
  6. When they are ready, take them out and let them cool down a bit before we start working.

Preparation of materials and decoration of eggs & # 8211 technique "painted" eggs with napkin

The most suitable napkins are the quality ones in three layers, you can opt for various patterns or unique patterns that are like a kind of central motif of the egg.

  1. Unwrap the napkin, all you need is the top layer, the patterned one.
  2. The model is cut into three parts, I also used it in one piece but I think it is easier to handle
  3. A single egg white is used, which is essentially enough for at least 30 eggs.

Grease the surface of the egg with egg white, using a brush, and wrap it in strips of napkin, running your finger from the middle of the strip to the edges, so that it adheres well and has no air under the thin paper. After the egg is completely wrapped, we give it again with the egg white brush. If the eggs are still warm, dry immediately. And that's it!

They are beautiful, velvety and are a healthy alternative to all paints full of chemicals that can penetrate the eggshell during painting. In addition, I share some unique moments with my son! May it be useful to you!

How to color eggs in yellow with turmeric or turmeric?

To get the yellow color I chose to color the eggs with turmeric powder (turmeric).

I also found variants of yellow Easter eggs colored with saffron, which seems more than out of place considering the price of saffron. What's the next step? Do we polish them with 24k gold?

Turmeric is affordable and colors quite nicely and intensely. If the eggs are white, the color is even brighter.

In a large enough pot I put the eggs, 2 large tablespoons of turmeric, I added water (1 liter) and I boiled everything over low heat, just to bubble. When they started to boil I added 2 tablespoons of vinegar. The eggs must be completely covered with water. I let it boil for 15 minutes. Then I turned off the fire and left the pot to cool on the table until the next day.

In the morning I took them out and put them in the formwork. The color has intensified a lot. I greased the eggs with a piece of bacon to get a nice shine. After applying the fat, the eggs seemed to lighten, the color intensified. It's a warm yellow to orange.

Conclusions & # 8211 eggs painted with turmeric or turmeric & # 8211 yellow:

The result is satisfying, the eggs turned out beautiful. I will definitely repeat painting Easter eggs with turmeric.
