We take a stick, put a cleaned banana and roll it tightly, we catch it with three toothpicks and we cut it into three pieces. We do the same with the others.

Meanwhile, heat the oil in the fryer, fry them one by one, being careful not to burn them (fry them very quickly). We take them out on the absorbent napkins, we let them drain for about 5 ', we carefully take out the toothpicks and then we put them in powdered sugar.

Fried plantains

In the Caribbean and South American countries near the equator, a traditional lunch consists of meat or fish with rice, beans, salad and a few strips of fried plantain.

The latter are often the tastiest part of the meal. Plantain bananas are similar to ordinary bananas, but larger and less round. Another key difference is that they cannot be eaten raw.

Only well-ripened plantain bananas are tasty fried. When they reach maturity, they are slightly soft and have a black rather than yellow skin.

Fried in a pan, in vegetable oil, the creamy white banana slices acquire a glossy brown crust and a slightly crunchy consistency. The warm core becomes soft enough to be cut with one side of the fork, and the sweet aroma is reminiscent of the taste of ordinary bananas, while remaining distinct.

How do we make the best dough for these toasted cookies?

The dough for these fried banana cookies is very simple and does not require many ingredients. You need flour, oil, eggs, milk and sugar. You will also need a growth agent, baking soda or ammonium and your favorite flavors. You can put the essence of vanilla, lemon, orange or rum. You can also add orange peel or lemon. You will get a soft and very sticky dough. If it is too sticky, you can add a little more flour, and if it is too thick, a little milk. To form the cookies you can use a biscuit press, a pos with dui or you can shape them by hand in the shape of a banana.

The name fried banana cookies comes from their shape. They were made with a meat grinder or with a press and when they were fried they looked like miniature bananas. They could also be baked, but in the country frying is preferred because there were houses where ovens did not exist. In addition, the fried ones were ready much faster. After you make them, you can keep them in metal boxes or in pans that close tightly. It also lasts a few weeks in the cold, in the refrigerator, on the balcony or in an unheated room. I sincerely hope you try them and remember your childhood. You can try too broth cake for another delicious Romanian dessert!

Fried bananas with honey, caramel and lemon sauce

These bananas fried in dough they have a fantastic taste and aroma, seconded by the sticky caramelized honey sauce, butter and lemon juice. For the first time I made these caramelized bananas in the years & # 821780 (I was about 11 & # 8211 12 years then) inspired by a culinary show on Hungarian television. We were fascinated by the very modern recipes presented by them and my mother cooked almost everything she could, still being limited by the food crisis. He still adapts them.

As a book, they should be served with a globe of vanilla ice cream or a word of natural whipped cream. I didn't have it on hand so I ate them so hot, soaked in the sweet and sour sauce. They are very filling and you get tired of 2-3 slices. I remember that before 1989 I made these bananas this year at Easter, trying to somehow save the greens that were sold (in endless queues) as bananas. From childhood I remember how I longed for the green, unripe bananas that appeared in December and that my mother baked for days, wrapped in newspapers and perched on the bedroom closet. It was so cold in the house that they didn't cook quickly.

I visit the banana bunches every day to check if they are ripe :)). We also eat them green and I remember that now the taste of Fa & # 8221 soap and starch they had & # 8211 were not sweet at all. Some of them turned directly black without ripening. What a miserable time! Well, it was exactly those green bananas that we made this dessert to sweeten them up a bit.

This recipe is mentioned honey from the sauce it is added at the end, after the sugar syrup has been removed from the heat. I say this because many people agree with the unverified theory that honey is & # 8222toxic & # 8221 if it is thermally processed. No, it's not toxic. Those who do not like honey can replace it with molasses (golden syrup & # 8211 Golden Syrup & # 8211 can be found in supermarkets). Also at the end I added freshly squeezed lemon juice so as not to & # 8222cook & # 8221 the vitamins in it (this makes sense).

From the quantities below it results approx. 4-5 servings of fried bananas with honey, caramel and lemon sauce.

How to prepare and fill the ordinary fried plantain

The process is very simple. First, you need to peel the ripe plantain bananas and cover them with oil, margarine or butter. We advise you to do this carefully so that the whole fruit is covered.

Then, fry the plantain bananas in an oven at high temperature (20 minutes on each side). As soon as they are golden and slightly brown, cut them in half and fill each banana separately. As you will see when you try the following recipes, you have many toppings and fillings.

Some useful tips to make the best patacone or toscones

  • It is recommended that the bananas be green. If you have bananas, but they are not green, you can use bananas that start to color a little. The reason is that if you use ripe bananas, when they are crushed, they will tend to break.
  • When crushing green bananas, you should do it carefully, because although they are green, they tend to be heavier than ripe ones because they are hot and tend to be weaker.

We hope you enjoy this wonderful recipe. Ah! And keep in mind that it is a very versatile food that can be used to accompany meat or vegetable dishes.
